Powers and Responsibilities

The Board of Elections and Registration of Madison County (BOER) was created by an act of the Georgia Legislature, H.B. No.505, Act No. 104 (2013) signed April 30, 2013 and pursuant to subsection (b) of Code Section 21-2-40 of the O.C.G.A.
The BOER has the powers, duties, and responsibilities of the superintendent of elections of Madison County and the powers, duties, and responsibilities of the Board of Registrars of Madison County under Chapter 2 of Title 21 of the O.C.G.A., the "Georgia Election Code Annotated.

The BOER is responsible for conducting all county, state and federal elections that are held in Madison County. The BOER also serves as a resource for election and support for municipalities located within Madison County.

The BOER is responsible for the formation, division, redivision, alteration, and consolidation of precincts in Madison County as provided in Code Section  21-2-261 and 262 of the O.C.G.A.

The BOER is responsible for appointing and training  poll workers  and to inspect systematically and thoroughly the conduct of primaries and elections in Madison County precincts and to ensure that primaries and elections may be honestly, efficiently, and uniformly conducted.
